LONSTAR - NEWS

HOT WINTER 2009-2010
02.02.2010

In spite of the pungent frost firmly clutching almost entire Europe, our winter season is hot. And it has begun with a mystical concert in Slovakian town of Košice.
A few days before Christmas Lonstar appeared there at a solemn concert, “Tribute to Peter Dula”, dedicated to our late friend, talented artist and front man of Slovakia’s top country band, Veslári (The Rowers), who had died last October.
The very fact of inviting Lonstar to that event was a great honor and distinction. However, a truly touching and totally unexpected thing happened at the concert itself. Its organizer and also a good, life-long friend of deceased artist, Laco Sasak, together with Peter’s parents, announced the foundation of the “Peter Dula Hall of Fame” in his memory, along with a Special Award for the artists who – just like Peter Dula – dedicate their lives to country music and whose input in this music is particularly significant. And when the moment came to grant the first Awards with respective Hall of Fame memberships, two names were announced: Lonstar and Allan Mikušek, Slovakian country legend and, privately, Peter’s friend and ours, too.
We invite you from the bottom of our hearts to the reading of the report from that unique and important event in the “Stagecoach” weekly and also to the photo gallery below.

So, to Lonstar the good ol’ 2009 came to an end with a sad but otherwise beautiful and emotional accent, while the New Year has set off with a new, energetic phase of his promotion on the West-European scene.
On the first Sunday of January the biggest German country radio network, COUNTRYMUSIC24 interviewed Michael Lonstar live and illustrated it with the songs from his album, “What’s This Country Thing”. That show is available in its entirety at our "radio" section.
On February 27th Lonstar will appear live again, this time in the show “Country Musicbox Live” on the “TV Country” channel of the commercial network, Volksmusic TV, broadcast in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The show will be recorded live during his concert within the “Country Night & Truckertreff” in Speyer, Germany.
Two weeks later, still across the Western border, Lonstar will make his presence felt, heard and seen (as he already has for the last few years) at the Country Music Messe in Berlin. On Friday night he’ll play with his band on the big “Stars and Stripes” stage as the headliner of the “Amazing Records Showcase” and then, on Sunday, he’ll do a solo acoustic recital within the “Songwriters in The Row” chapter at the “Bluebird Cafe”.

We invite all country fans to his Berlin concerts and of course you are most welcome at our Polish concerts, too! We also encourage you to vote in the plebiscite Country Music Awards "Stagecoach 2009". It has entered its II phase, selecting the nominees, out of which in the III phase the final winners will be elected.
Don’t hesitate to vote! You’ll find the detailed information, voting rules and voting form at saloon.pl.
This year the fans have run Lonstar in the categories Artist of the Year and Song of the Year, while the above-mentioned Special Award and induction to “Peter Dula Hall of Fame” will run for the title of Event of the Year.
Other candidate for the prestigious Artist of the Year slot is multi-active musician, songwriter, longtime member of Lonstar Band and multiple winner of the title of Instrumentalist of the Year, pedal steel player Leszek Laskowski.

Meanwhile enjoy the echoes of the “Vilnius Bluegrass” festival held last November in Lithuanian capital. Brief fragment of the concert of Lonstar Bluegrass Trio with master-fiddler Algirdas Klova available HERE.
